Expensive Hobby Independent Distribution (EH) helps independent publishers get their books into more retailers around Aotearoa New Zealand. We provide a lean service that keeps costs affordable for smaller scale projects and creators.
Who it's for
Understand our focus before inquiring about distribution.
We support projects that multiply opportunities for creators in the publishing landscape, such as independent publishing houses or gallery publishers. If you only have one title now but have concrete plans for future releases you're welcome to inquire. We don't distribute projects that are the vehicle for a single individual's work such as self-publishing.
Our retailers are mostly traditional independent bookstores and expect products to be bound in a manner that fits their shelves and displays. Hand-bound books that meet this standard are great, but at this time we do not distribute zines or booklets.
We focus on independent arts and literary publishing and expect a certain level of aesthetic and design quality that fits our catalogue. We do not distribute children's literature.
